Talking about myself isn't my strong suit…

Talking about myself isn't my strong suit…

Here's a dose of honesty – talking about myself has never been my strong suit. Perhaps that's why I'm usually found behind the camera, letting my photos do the talking.

But, here's a glimpse into my world:

I'm a native Mainer, and my journey has been a whirlwind, taking me from the serene landscapes of Maine to the bustling streets of Savannah, Atlanta, New York City, and even across the seas to Australia. It's in these diverse places that I honed my craft, finding my unique voice in the dynamic realms of photography and design.

My professional journey began with a B.F.A from the Savannah College of Art and Design (SCAD), where my passion for photography and advertising came alive.

In the heart of Atlanta, (Poncey Highlands to be exact) I spent close to a decade as a senior designer, designing experiential graphics for fortune 500 companies annual events; and I couldn't resist sprinkling my own photography into every project I touched.

But like a homing beacon, Maine's tranquility and the magnetic pull of family and friends eventually drew me back.

At L.L.Bean, I initially joined as a designer, but it didn't take long for my camera to become an extension of my vision. My career transformed, and I wholeheartedly embraced the role of a photo art director, unlocking the potent storytelling ability of the lens.

While you won't find me scaling mountains or conquering marathons, I do have an unshakable love for the outdoors. My adventures tend to be of a smaller scale, like building woodland forts with my daughter or embarking on quests to discover hidden swimming holes during the summer months.

When it comes to finding the perfect swimming spot, I'll go to great lengths, and if you ever need a tip on the finest ones around (trust me, I've got a few up my sleeve), don't hesitate to drop me a line.

sundays are
for baking

I've recently found a new passion – baking! While I've always turned to cooking as my go-to stress-reliever, I've come to embrace the science and precision that baking demands, and I've fallen head over heels for it. The possibilities are endless!

When I want to impress someone, my go-to treat is cheesecake. My friends might be biased, but they'll be the first to tell you it's the best they've ever had. Compliments like that? Well, I'll gladly take them!

Why I Started This Journey

Why I Started This Journey

But here's the chapter I'm living right now, the very reason why I've embarked on this photography journey.

My dad's battle with dementia has been a swift and unexpected turn of events. He went from being the rock of our family to becoming completely disconnected, seemingly overnight, lost in his own mind, detached from the world around him.

the gift of memories

the gift of memories

Shortly before my dad developed dementia, he gave me a Zip-Lock bag brimming with printed photographs he had gathered and held dear over the years.

As I sift through these pictures today, long-forgotten memories and feelings come rushing back, instantly transporting me to those moments with each photo in my hand. I can hear the sounds of those moments and even catch the familiar scents of the places captured in some of the photos.

I've spent my career crafting images that aim to evoke this kind of emotion through meticulously planned and calculated processes. They are, in essence, staged and contrived.

But within this unassuming Ziplock bag lies something different—unadulterated emotion, raw connections, and a tapestry of countless feelings. These snapshots collected over the years hold not just my life's story but my family's story too.

it's about preserving an entire narrative.

it's about preserving an entire narrative.

It isn't merely about capturing a moment; it's about preserving an entire narrative. These images encapsulate the quirks, the laughter, and the love that make my family uniquely us.

This realization ignites a mission within me – to document not only my own memories but the stories of others as well. I yearn to offer families more than just posed portraits. My goal is to provide you with a window into your genuine connections, the authentic beauty of your lives.
